Do-Now 12/3

Twitter can be used in education for a couple reasons. Teachers can tweet about homework or any upcoming tests. This would benefit both students and teacher because since teenagers are constantly online they would get their homework done and teachers won't have to worry about missing homework assignments. Also helpful links and online resources that can be tweeted by teachers, that can help students better understand what they are learning about and what they need to do and how to do it.

Do-Now 11/18

One thing that I would wanna do is help out others that do not have as much as I do. I would love to do fundraisers and collect foods, clothing, and toys for others. It would be nice to give more to those that are homeless and on the streets without the necessities of life. I can give them little snacks and packages of food that would brighten and make their day ten times better. Also I can collect more items for those homeless and give it to each and every one of them. There is also already food drives and the salvation army that I can donate to.

Do-now 11/11

The devastating typhoon in the Philippines is crazy to think about. It must be scary to be submerge in water within seconds not knowing it was going to happen. Swirling water from the ocean filled the streets. It is very sad that many people were killed by this typhoon. People were swept away in tsunami-like torrents. Some people are very lucky to be alive right now and i pray for everyone struggling for survival, food, and shelter out in the Philippines.

Do-Now 10/28

Invisibility
If I were able to be invisible for one day I would watch out for any danger or help the elderly. Having the advantage of being invisible would allow me to report any danger I see going on or helping an old woman or man with things they are unable to do. If i saw any problems going on I can report them but I would not be targeted by the person causing the danger because I would be invisible. I would be giving a helping hand to the police telling them what is going on and making the world a better and safer place.
The elderly have problems with parts of there bodies like their back or hips; if i were invisible I would help cleaning up their front and back yard. I can rake there leaves and cut their lawn so they would not have any busy work to do. These are both good deeds I can do to help others, that i would not mind not get recognition.

My favorite class- 9/16/13

My favorite class is biology. Mrs. Sistarenik has been interested in science since the day she dissected a fish in fifth grade. She has a Bachelors of Science from Montclair State University and a Masters in Education from Marygrove College. Not only does she teach my Biology class; she teaches honors biology, forensic, genetics, and biotechnology.

We have been working on lab safety rules and the purpose of protective gear when working on labs. As we move on along throughout the year we will be learning about cellular respiration, cell reproduction, and genetics. Towards the end of the year we will possibly be dissecting a frog; which I'm not very excited for.

The objective of biology class is to understand the dynamics of life with hands-on experience in order to appreciate the complexity of life. Mrs. Sistarenik/Mrs. Pielech grading policy is that formal assessments (tests & quizzes) are 40%, performance based assessments (labs & projects) are 40%, informal assessments (do nows, classwork, homework) are 10%, and participation is 10%.

Biology is the study of living things and their vital process. Because biology covers a broad area, it has been traditional to separate the study of plants (botany) from that of animals (zoology) and the study of structure of organisms (morphology) from that of function (physiology).
