My favorite class is biology. Mrs. Sistarenik has been interested in science since the day she dissected a fish in fifth grade. She has a Bachelors of Science from Montclair State University and a Masters in Education from Marygrove College. Not only does she teach my Biology class; she teaches honors biology, forensic, genetics, and biotechnology.
We have been working on lab safety rules and the purpose of protective gear when working on labs. As we move on along throughout the year we will be learning about cellular respiration, cell reproduction, and genetics. Towards the end of the year we will possibly be dissecting a frog; which I'm not very excited for.
The objective of biology class is to understand the dynamics of life with hands-on experience in order to appreciate the complexity of life. Mrs. Sistarenik/Mrs. Pielech grading policy is that formal assessments (tests & quizzes) are 40%, performance based assessments (labs & projects) are 40%, informal assessments (do nows, classwork, homework) are 10%, and participation is 10%.
Biology is the study of living things and their vital process. Because biology covers a broad area, it has been traditional to separate the study of plants (botany) from that of animals (zoology) and the study of structure of organisms (morphology) from that of function (physiology).
I luv biology too!!!!
